Last weekend, I went to support and help my family and Party for the Planet event in Surrey, BC. For me it was a very personal commitment not just to myself, but for my family as well. I wrote about my experience here Mindcheck Fundraising in Sean's Memory. Dealing with a loss of a loved one is, as well a know, very difficult. Dealing with the loss of a loved one to suicide is even more difficult on one's heart and soul. I can admit very openly, that seeing my cousin's photo at the event and explaining to anyone who asked what Mindcheck is about and how it relates to my cousin, brought out many stories from people.
To see the various emotions that came from people, their support in wanting to understand, to sharing the voice of who Mindcheck is and how it can help others, we couldn't have asked for anything more.
I know my blog here on this site is for the kink at heart and I do promise it will return, I just wanted to share with my readers on both blogs the importance of volunteering and the value one can feel from helping to make a difference.
Thank you to those that came out and helped support such a worthwhile cause. You can find Mindcheck here at www.mindcheck.ca; bookmark it, you just never know when someone you care and love may need that support.
Live, Laugh & Love,
Sierra
